'COME TO DADDY' Sound Edit

For this project i extracted all original music and sound effects from Aphex Twins music video 'COME TO DADDY'.  The task was to create all sound effects and ambient tracks myself from scratch.  My aim was to make the video seem more like a section of a film than a music video, to create a new from re-editing an old video.

The sounds were made and edited myself, from recording footsteps to rubber bands being stretched.  The soundclips were cut up and placed along a timeline to the video in Soundtrack Pro.  The ambient tracks and background music i created using a number of Production programs on my laptop.

Some of the original soundtrack remains, the idea with this is to shock the viewer causing not to know what to expect.

Millard

The aim of this project was to create another species through sound.

The sounds you hear were made using 1 Baloon, 1 long tube, 1 homemade contact microphone and 1 Digital Delay guitar pedal.  All sounds were recorded individually and later mastered in Audacity.

For best effect listen in Stereo!

Vorbis

Both these tracks were created using a specific list of numbers.  The list  followed the famous fibonacci rule.  I created the simple melody line using MAX and recorded it through guitar fx pedals before finally layering the track into audacity.
To create the beat remix i put the final mixdown of the original into Ableton live, here i edited and transormed it into a beat before again layering the track into ableton.

Rolex/Casio

This was composed using midi information only.  Using an object in MAX called 'Detonate' i created a patch which allows the user to compose a score and then play it back with a choice of instruments.
I composed a simple melody, played it with several different sounds and then finally laid the tracks down in Audacity to compose the final track.

3:43am

Hog marching pattern designed using PD/Sphere and Audacity.
It was a general multi program experiment that i feel my state of mind at the time of making it was certainly a major impact in the outcome.  3:43am was the time when i gave up.

StarSynth

Using Jitter and also components from MAX MSP i designed an Audio and Video effects unit.  It has been designed for ease of use, the user can upload a video and an audio track and lay effects on them in real time effect.  It was also designed to be almost a visual synth, i have included oscilators that are effected depending on the video output but can also be controlled manually in real time.
This project inspired me to expand this effects unit to create a complete DJ/VJ effects mixer.  This mixer will allow the user to control, effect and mix music and video at the same time.  StarSynth is a downscaled version of course, being able only to upload one audio track and one video at a time.  But it is a simpletons tool of course, anybody can use it quite comfortably.

Below is a demonstration of what the program is designed for.  If the you experience troubles playing the video then follow the link below to ourmedia where it runs bigger and better.
